Traffic update:  All Construction usually runs 7AM – 5PM the latest

 

DiFelice construction has recently completed the installation of a temporary-above ground water bypass System... The next phase will be the installation of a water main & individual water services this will continue for the next few months probably into June it would be best for motor us to seek alternate routes in the areas of Saratoga St. from Lawrence St. to Sunset St. & Clifton St. and from Andover St. to Davis St.

EJ paving is now milling and paving's in numerous locations in the city the scope of the paving  Goes across the road from curb to curb so you may encounter short term traffic issues. Please be patient for temporary Street detours/closures.

Feeney brothers have begun to install gas main on Water St. between Mason St. &  Jordan Ave.  this work will continue into May It would be best to seek alternate routes

PJ Albert paving will be in the Colonial Heights area around Cutler St & Durso Ave starting April 10, 2018 weather permitting. No parking signs will be posted in anticipation of paving.

Detective Harold Rogers

The Exchange Club of Lawrence, it is the honor of the  Lawrence Police Department and the 2017 Public Safety Awards Committee to formally recognize Detective Harold Rogers who has distinguish himself by his commendable actions and exceptional performance in the year 2017.  Detective Harold Rogers, worked tirelessly and diligently on his investigations throughout 2017. Rogers was a dogged investigator who cleared a remarkable and incomparable 82 percent of his assigned cases. This coupled with his professionalism and integrity makes him an unparalleled member of the Lawrence Police Department and a credit to law enforcement.   Rogers investigated upwards to 100 cases in 2017.

Section 7: Property taken by police officers from persons under arrest; disposition

Section 7. If property which has been stolen, lost, abandoned or taken from a person under arrest comes into the possession of a member of the police department of a city by virtue of his office, he shall deliver the same to the officer or member of the department designated by the rules thereof, and shall thereupon be relieved from further responsibility therefor. The officer or member to whom such property is so delivered shall give notice as provided in section one of chapter one hundred and thirty-four. The word ''city'' as used in this and the four following sections shall include town.

Section 8: Unclaimed property in possession of police department; sale at public auction; notice

Section 8. If such property remains unclaimed in the possession of such police department or member thereof for one month and the owner thereof or his place of abode or business is unknown, or if the owner and his place of abode or business are known and the owner, after receipt by registered mail of a written notice from such department or member to take possession of said property, refuses or fails for a period of ten days following said receipt so to do, such department may sell the same, excepting money unclaimed, by public auction or any other licensed auction service, including sale over the Internet, notice of the time and place of sale, with a description of the property to be sold, first being given by publishing the same once in each of three successive weeks in a newspaper published in such city. Any violation of the provisions of this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than fifty nor more than one hundred dollars and by forfeiture of any such property obtained as a result of such violation.
