Animal Control
The primary function of the Animal Control Division is to enforce the City Of Lawrence by-laws and the Massachusetts General Laws as they relate to animal issues. Some other duties of Animal Control include picking up stray dogs, licensing and vaccination enforcement, bite investigations, cruelty investigations, quarantines, barking complaints and barn inspections.

Hackney
The Lawrence Police Department Hackney unit has the responsibility of developing an overall transportation strategy for demand responsive transportation providers, as established by local city ordinances. The Hackney unit licenses and regulates medallion taxicabs, livery vehicles, limousines and commuter vans.

Winter Parking Ban
In the event of a snow storm prior to December 15, 2017, or after April 1, 2018, residents will be asked to adhere to the alternate side of the street parking ordinance where parking is allowed.

The City of Lawrence uses an Enhanced 911 system. An Enhanced 911 system adds the ability to display the caller’s address and telephone number at the PSAP ( Public Safety Answering Point) for the dispatcher’s reference.
