Voters who are registered to vote may vote by absentee ballot.
Lawrence voters who:
- will be out of Lawrence on Election Day, or
- have a medical reason prohibiting them from voting on Election Day, or
- have a religious conflict that prevents them from voting on Election Day
may submit a written, signed request to have an Absentee Ballot mailed to them.
An absentee ballot must be requested in writing by 5 p.m. on the 5th business day before the election. The application must be received by the deadline to allow us to send you a ballot. Apply as early as possible, especially if your ballot will need to be mailed out of town. The U.S. Postal Service recommends allowing up to 7 days for mail delivery. To ensure you receive your ballot with enough time to mail it back, you should apply 2-3 weeks before Election Day.
