The Police memorial was built and dedicated on October of 1997 at the Bellevue Cemetery The memorial was built to honor two Lawrence police officers killed in the line of duty; Peter Manning and Thomas Duggan, Sr., Lawrence police officer Thomas Duggan, Sr. was killed in 1990 when he was beaten with a baseball bat on Lowell Street. A drunk driver killed Peter Manning in 1953, just a few short blocks from where Duggan was killed.
Hero’s walk is "Dedicated to all Police Officers past, present and future, who faithfully served the citizens of Lawrence Massachusetts."
