About MHTF
The Mayor’s Health Task Force (MHTF) is a dynamic, multi-sector coalition dedicated to advancing health equity for all members of the community through strategic advocacy, education, capacity-building, and networking.
The MHTF plays a pivotal role in elevating public health issues on the city’s political agenda and forging new partnerships that strengthen community capacity to address health disparities. The Task Force represents a comprehensive and collective effort by community leaders and activists to position Lawrence as a model for health and wellness in the broadest possible sense.
The MHTF envisions a healthier, safer, and more vibrant community for all residents.
In July 2010, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health entrusted the MHTF with the administration of Community Health Network Area (CHNA) 11, expanding its influence to the cities of Methuen, Andover, North Andover, and Middleton. This responsibility enabled the MHTF to provide critical technical assistance to these communities, significantly growing both the membership and scope of the Task Force.
Guided by three key public health frameworks—Collective Impact, City Resilience, and Health in All Policies—the MHTF identifies health disparities and addresses the socioeconomic determinants that affect residents' health. This is achieved through the collective efforts of our dedicated working groups.
